European Esthetics started in 1992, by owner Ellen Smith. She opened her doors in a tiny space on School Street in Peterborough, NH.
At that time professional skin care and esthetics was not a common thing. Ellen introduced the importance of skin care to the
Monadnock region as well as educated clients how to take care of themselves through organic skin and body care.
Now, after more than 26 years and in a location where the space is light, bright and airy with the continuous flow and energy of the Nubanusit River. Offering a variety of services including Therapeutic Body Massage, to feel good, reduce stress and
taking care of your body. Natural nail care services, which are very relaxing through deep massage with local olive oils and aromatherapy.
Professional care and continued education is valued deeply and customer satisfaction is priority.
Classes about all sorts of topics in health, self care and well being are being offered by local health experts and educators.
The Tea Room has been added for relaxation and health, as the benefits of teas have been known for centuries.
European Esthetics' doors are open for anyone who wants to come relax, pass some time as well as connect with friends.
"I am feeling very fortunate to be able to do what I love doing! Helping people feel great about their skin and give them some time for themselves, is a wonderful thing! My mother was an esthetician while I was growing up in the Netherlands and although I first wanted to become a nurse, I changed my mind and truly loved the two year esthetics education, a program offered by my Mom's teacher! I am very grateful to be part of the Peterborough community for more than 26 years; our clients at European Esthetics have been so supportive throughout the years! I completed my certification for Holistic Health Coach at the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in NYC in 2012.
So I am now also working with clients by supporting them with food and nutrition, and helping them reach their goals for their health!
I guess that's not far from nursing after all!"
Ellen lives in Greenfield, with her husband James and daughter Fiona (18), while daughter Sabina (24) is enjoying her college years in
Sarah has come and gone at European Esthetics, and is back again offering her wonderful nail services. She connects well with everyone and loves spoiling her clients on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sarah lives in Nashua, NH with her sweet chihuahua puppies, and... is expecting her first baby this fall!
"I was born and raised in Peterborough, NH and I currently live in Temple, NH with my fiancé. I have been very fortunate to spend most of my 26 years in this wonderful community. Horses have always been a huge part of my life, I have been riding since I was 3 and have owned my own horses since I was 6. I also taught riding lessons for a few years. In my spare time, if I’m not at the barn, I’m usually spending time with my family or my fiancé’s. I have always loved interacting with people and working in customer service and I am so excited to be working as a receptionist at European Esthetics!"
Having spent 8+ years in the nursing field and then 2 as a stay at home mom I am excited to work with a business that promotes health, wellness and beauty. Working in a calm, warm and welcoming spa is the perfect match for me since I spend the rest of my time with my curious and energetic boys. Dylan is 6, Connor 4 and Ryan is 2. I enjoy interacting with people and have a knack for customer service. I am a lifelong resident of Greenfield, but recently moved to Peterborough and love everything about New Hampshire! I now am in school to become a Nail Technician and look forward to help our clients with great looking toe nails and finger nails!

Dr Hauschka Trained Esthetician
Kristen became interested in becoming an esthetician after being a stay-at-home mom for 16 years. Her treat to herself was getting monthly facials which resulted in healthier, glowing skin, and deep relaxation. She decided to attend The Laird Institute of Spa Therapy and received her license in advanced esthetics. The year prior, she got certified as a Holistic Health Coach through The Institute of Integrative Nutrition.
She combines her knowledge of holistic health in her treatments through educating clients on proper nutrition as well as skin care to achieve optimal skin health, because she believes beauty begins within. Kristen lives in Temple and has two children, 18 and 19 years old.
"Since I was young, I have been interested in wellness and beauty. I made my first facial mask out of plants that I found in my back yard. I moved to Peterborough when I was 8 years old, and consider myself to be a native. I had my first facial from European Esthetics at the age of 13, and have been captivated with skin care since then! After graduating from ConVal High School, I moved to London, England to attend the London School of Beauty & Make-up, and received my Beauty Therapy certificate in 2007. I have worked in the spa industry since my return, in cities such as Cambridge, Ma., St. Louis, Mo., and Hagerstown, Md. I am so pleased to be back in the area and love helping people look and feel their best!"
"I am passionate about helping others make the positive transformations they are seeking. Bodywork is a collaborative effort.
Though most people find immediate relief, it isn’t a quick fix. To truly change, requires a little effort and a lot of patience.
"Reiki is a wonderful tool for self-care and for supporting ourselves and others through change. So in addition to offering Reiki sessions,
I also teach the practice of Reiki in private and small groups. Having lived in Japan, I feel a special connection to this ancient healing art.
"While I combine a number of techniques on the table, including Deep Tissue and Neuromuscular, Floor Shiatsu is another modality clients find incredibly restorative.
"I was trained in massage at the N.H. Institute for Therapeutic Arts in Hudson, NH. And, consider myself a lifelong learner, enjoying puzzles of all kinds, including anatomical ones."
